Vice President, Client Service - CPG Sales | Remote Position | Full Time

Directions is seeking a strategic-minded, high-impact individual to join our growing team as a Vice President, Client Service. The ideal candidate will have significant insights, leadership experience, and in-depth industry knowledge in the CPG industry. In addition, candidates should possess a robust array of industry contacts and the ability to build strong business relationships.

  • Leveraging your wealth of experience in the CPG industry and your client service skillset into an entrepreneurial position with a high expectation firm
  • Creating and executing an action-oriented plan to identify, establish, and grow client relationships at multiple companies in the area of CPG (and other industries)
    • Applying effective prospecting techniques to win new business
    • Identifying opportunities to expand Directions' business with current clients
    • Projecting account-level sales forecasts for use by Senior Management
  • Identifying needs and delivering in a consultative role to provide value-add thinking and research results that positively impact your clients' organization
    • Identifying client needs and designing research to meet those needs effectively
    • Applying effective client management and communication skills, which include:
      • Managing expectations
      • Adopting a marketing/business orientation (vs. research orientation)
      • Effectively communicate/present results
    • Pushing the envelope on new designs, analysis, and visualization, with the ability to manage a variety of methodologies, including both qualitative and quantitative techniques
      • Determining pricing for client projects
      • Creating and presenting proposals and sales/marketing decks
      • Directing, coaching and colloaborating with team members to analyze, visualize and communicate results
    • Being an industry thought leader who can articulate your ideas in client meetings, at industry conferences, and thru our digital social-media platforms

The best person for this position will be able to design, sell, and oversee the execution of insights. They will be able to consult independently and find great value in team selling with other account executives and our advanced business intelligence team.


  • Minimum of ten years of experience in the research and insights industry is preferred
    • An advanced degree in marketing research may qualify toward the required experience
  • Experience in designing, proposing, selling, and overseeing the execution of projects
  • Collaborative, strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills
  • Proactive business development mindset
  • Ability to travel to meet client needs
