World's Largest 4-Day WorkWeek Test Trial

This Xcelerant was used to measure America's interest in a 4-day workweek after the United Kingdom piloted the world's largest 4-day workweek trial run, starting June 6th, and running through November.

According to a recent article released by CNN, companies and workers taking part in the trial have committed to working 80% of their usual week with no loss of pay, and the expectation to maintain 100% productivity. Researchers will analyze how workers respond to having an extra day off, by measuring: stress and burnout, job and life satisfaction, health, sleep, energy use, and travel.

As the trial nears its four-month mark, some UK workers have said the experiment has been "life-changing" claiming the extra day has given them time to pick up hobbies, fulfill long-standing ambitions, invest more time in relationships, and improve their mental health. At the end of November, the participating companies will decide whether to stick with the new schedule, or revert back to the traditional work week. If the trial is successful, this experiment could help usher in a new era of work.
